Problem printing receipt or opening cash drawer (error 425)

Most cash drawers connect to the back of the receipt printer. POS tries to pop the drawer first before printing a receipt. If the receipt printer is not functioning, the cash drawer won't open.

  1. Verify the printer paper is loaded with paper, the paper feeds properly, and status light on the printer is green.
  2. Verify the cash drawer is closed and not locked.
  3. Cold start the PC with Start, Turn Off Computer, Shutdown (not Restart). Check all cables (unplug and reconnect printer and cash drawer). Power back on.
  4. Perform a receipt printer self-test -- power off, hold down feed button, power on, let go of feed button when test prints. If printer does not have off/on switch, open lid for off/on or check for reset/test button under the lid.
