Can't drag desktop shortcut to taskbar

When you install an update or reinstall software any existing shortcuts for that app are removed but a placeholder may remain in the taskbar. That placeholder icon will appear as a blank white rectangle. Click on it and answer Yes to remove. You can now drag the app shortcut to the taskbar.
